New Standard Features
11-19-08
We announced new standard features for the Hyperion 12.5" telescope at the Advanced Imaging Conference last weekend. Already designed to optically outperform anything in its class, these new features put the Hyperion into a class of its own.
The new standard features include a high-precision instrument rotator, integrated telescope control system, and an innovative wireless interface.
Optional on other telescopes in its class, the Hyperion will include an instrument rotator. The rotator allows the camera to be accurately positioned for framing targets and finding guidestars. Driven by a custom 6-inch worm gear and mounted with a unique stainless-steel bearing system, the rotator is both precise and robust.
The telescope control panel is built into the back plate of the telescope. It allows control of the instrument rotator, cooling fans, dew heaters, and two MicroTouch sutofocusers (one for the Hyperion, one for an optional piggyback instrument). The panel features digital readout and both manual and automatic controls.
Computer control of the telescope electronic functions is through a tiny wireless USB box, eliminating the tangle of cables associated with controlling imaging accessories. All electronics are ASCOM-compatible for automated control with popular imaging software.
Watch for more details on these standard features coming soon.
